Archer and Rutzou win at Golf Industry Awards

The General Manager of Dubbo Golf Club, Rod Archer, has won the GMA NSW Manager of the Year Award, while Tina Rutzou of Elanora Country Club has won the Team Member of the Year at the second annual Golf Industry Awards night.

Recognising an individual who has shown commitment to professional development, sound financial management, excellent member relations and visionary strategic planning, the GMA NSW Board gave the Manager of the Year Award to Rod Archer.

“In just two short years Rod has made significant changes and improvements to the Dubbo Golf Club,” GMA Chair Cathy Neagle said.

“Rod has developed the 2040 strategic Club plan and sought new financially beneficial opportunities, such as the 2020 Women’s NSW Open Golf Championship, of which Dubbo Golf Club is the host.

“As a result, the Club has been able to invest in upgrading 43 bunkers and 250m of concrete paths on the Course.

“Rod has also increased the number of members by 146 persons by restructuring membership categories to include a Senior 65+ and the Octogenarians. In addition he has improved its engagement with Juniors by engaging with the local youth indigenous community.”

In winning the award, Rod receives a trip to the CMAA World Conference in Dallas, Texas in February 2020, including flights, registration and accommodation up to the value of $5,000.

Tina Rutzou, Sports Administration Manager at Elanora Country Club won the Team Member of the Year Award, given to an individual who has shown a great contribution and service to the Club while implementing new initiatives.

“Tina goes above and beyond in everything that she does,” Neagle said. “She is a great team player with a very professional attitude. She embodies the Club values and always seeks opportunities to improve herself.

“Tina‘s key responsibility is the administration of the Club’s sports, but Tina also coordinates key areas of the Club’s communication such as the monthly newsletter and events promotion.”

Tina has won a Golf and Wine package in the Yarra Valley, including a private tour and tasting of the De Bortoli Vineyard followed by lunch at the De Bortoli Award Winning Restaurant plus a tour and accommodation at the Eastern Golf Club.
