It was a warm and windy day at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club for the 2019 GMA NSW Championships and the closing event of the year.
“The course is in great shape as we prepare for the NSW Open,” Twin Creeks General Manager Brendon Kop said.
More than 40 club managers, their guests and corporate partners took to the course in carts and earned their refreshments on the hot day.
A special mention to the teams from Nelson Bay and Forster Tuncurry who made the journey to play in the tournament and participate in the State Business Meeting.
Newly appointed GMA NSW Board Director, Cameron Harvey presided over the presentation and graciously accepted the JB Ferrier Trophy for best general manger on the day with a score of 32 points.
“Well this is awkward,” he said. “But it’s been a great day and I’d like to thank the event sponsor MPower MSL, Schweppes for the refreshments and Taylor Made for the prizes.”
There was some corporate rivalry among the boys from InGolf & Utility as Joel Monahan (40 pts) edged out Luke Roberts (35 pts) to take out the best corporate partners.
“I’ve had a great day,” Monahan said. “It’s been 18 long months but I have finally got my handicap back.”
In the teams event, Derryn Wiegand, Neil Telley, Joel Monahan and Gary Wood beat Luke Roberts, Matt Tierney, Cameron Harvey and Andrew Kirkman on a count back, both teams ending the day with 47 points.
The 2020 GMA NSW Calendar will be released in early December with the Opening Event expected to take place on 9th and 10th February in the Hunter Valley.
